Language Interpretation and Translation Services

The Language Interpretation and Translation Services (LIS) is a division of Immigrant Women Services Ottawa. LIS helps remove language barriers in the community by offering high quality, prompt and affordable language interpretation services to agencies serving multilingual clients with limited English and/or French language skills.

Our services include spoken language interpretation in over 70 languages on site or by telephone, as well as written translation.

The spoken language services are FREE in situations involving survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and elder abuse. Service providers working with  those coming from refugee camps where it has been proven that they are survivors of war and trauma (i.e. rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence) and have been in Canada for less than a year, can also access this service.

Since 1990, we have been serving government organizations, private companies, and non-profit agencies in the Eastern region. This region extends from Belleville to Cornwall and includes the following cities/counties/towns: Almonte, Arnprior, Carleton Place, Cornwall, Lanark County, L’Originale, Ottawa, Pakenham, Pembroke, Perth, Smith Falls and Kingston.

We also provide services to the Domestic Violence Court Systems, the Victim Crisis Services in Ottawa and the Valley. Our commitment to the community ensures that we provide you with excellent customer service at competitive rates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round.
