In the Community
Become an IWSO Volunteer
Volunteers and Members
Volunteers and IWSO members are needed for public education and fundraising activities that support IWSO and our goal to end violence against women in Ottawa.
Community supporters who can help clients re-establish their lives are also invaluable to the success of women and their families.
Outreach
Board, members and staff make presentations at community meetings, to community organizations, workshops and conferences to raise awareness about violence and its impact on women, their children and our community.
Advocacy
Volunteers, Members and staff advocate with government and the community to promote greater public commitment to ending violence against women.
Marketing and Communications
Volunteers prepare public education and communications materials on abuse of women and to promote IWSO and its services. These communications resources will be used in community newspapers, the website, and by volunteers and staff in outreach and advocacy.
Fundraising
The fundraising Committee organizes IWSO fundraising - with special events such as the annual “Roses and Candles” gala, a range of other activities and with direct appeals to community organizations and individuals.
Community Links
These individuals and organizations work with IWSO as links to the community for women and their children who are rebuilding their lives and establishing themselves in the community.
